OTOPLASTY
Otoplasty is the surgical correction of prominent ears , also known as "lop" ears.
The ear cartilage is either incompletely formed at birth, or malpositioned from birth. Prominent ears can be particularly distressing in children when their self-image and self-esteem is being formed.
The aim of surgery is to correct the overall position and appearance of the ears. The procedure can be performed as an in-office surgery for adults. Children often require general anesthesia in the operating room.
